Picasso Stone is named because its color patterns sometimes remind people of the paintings of artist, Pablo Picasso. It is a marble that is only produced in a few locations - one of which is in Utah, USA. Typical colors are browns, grays, black, white, buffs and dark reds.
For sale are beautifully polished Picasso Stone gemstones. These tumbled stones are sold in 4 ounce (113 gram), 8 ounce (226 gram) and one pound (453 gram) bags. Your stones will be similar in size, shape and color to the stones pictured above. They are perfect for a variety of jewelry and craft projects - or simply to admire.
More information about Picasso Stone
Picasso Stone is rather soft for a gemstone with a hardness of only 3 to 4 on the Mohs Scale. It scratches easily and is best used in jewelry, craft and decorative projects that will not be subject to impact or abrasion.
Picasso Stone is often cut into spectacular cabochons that are composed to frame a scene with optimal color and pattern. These make wonderful bolos, pendants, earrings and pins. Picasso Stone is also used to craft ornamental objects such as paperweights, bookends, and desk sets.
