Botswana is country in southern Africa that is famous for producing
beautiful banded agate. The name "Botswana Agate" is often used for a gray,
brown, white and sometimes orange to pink chalcedony with distinct
fortification banding. This material is produced in Botswana at many
locations.
Botswana agate is moderately popular among lapidaries and is often used to
produce cabochons and tumble-polished gemstones. They are used in many
types of jewelry items such as beads, cabochons, necklaces and pendants.
