Tumbled Banded Amethyst
 |
Treasure Bags! Velour pouches for storing
stones or giving them as gifts. | |
Amethyst is a purple variety of crystalline quartz that can be transparent
through translucent. Amethyst is one of the world's most popular gemstones and
has been used as a gem for thousands of years. Several countries are
prolific sources of amethyst. These include Brazil, Uruguay, Austria,
Russia, India, Canada, Zambia and numerous locations in the United States.
In most of these locations it is found as crystals lining cavities of
igneous rocks.
Our tumble-polished banded amethyst gemstones are sold in 1/4 pound, 1/2 pound
and one pound bags. The picture above shows the contents representative of a 1/4
pound bag. It is a translucent purple material with snowy white bands - sometimes
displaying a chevron pattern. Your stones will be similar in size, shape and color
to the stones pictured above. They are perfect for a variety of jewelry and
craft projects - or simply to admire. We also sell amethyst tumbling rough
and rock tumbler kits if you would like to produce your own tumbled gems.
Amethyst has a wide range of use in jewelry. It is cut into both faceted and
cabochon shapes which are mounted in silver and gold jewelry settings.
Amethyst rings, earrings, pendants, necklaces, beads and bracelets are all very popular.
Amethyst is a February birthstone, the 17th anniversary gem and the Pisces zodiac gem.
Ancient people believed that wearing amethyst would give them an ability to think clearly
in battle and when making personal or business decisions.
Warning: Polished stones can be a choking hazard for small children. |
