Amazonite is a green microcline feldspar that is exceptionally popular as a gemstone.
It was named for the Amazon River which flows near some of the first commercial deposits of Amazonite.
For sale are beautifully polished Amazonite gemstones. These tumbled stones are sold in 4 ounce
(113 gram), 8 ounce (226 gram) and one pound (453 gram) bags. Your stones will be similar in size, shape and color to
the stones pictured above. They are perfect for a variety of jewelry and craft projects - or simply to admire.
More information about Amazonite:
Amazonite is a popular stone with rockhounds, jewelers and the general
public. It is often used to make beads that are used in necklaces, bracelets
and earrings. It is also cut into cabochones and those stones are set into
pendants, earrings and pins.
Amazonite works well in a variety of craft, decorative and jewelry projects.
However, it does not make a good stone for rings or other items that might
be subject to impact because it cleaves easily.
Amazonite is found at many locations worldwide. Lots of bright green material
has been mined in Brazil. Amazonite has been mined from pegmatite deposits near
Pike's Peak, Colorado. And, the mines in the Ural Mountains of Russia have
produced Amazonite in a variety of green shades, including some light green material.
